The haunting markings that Patrick creates with his pencils and charcoal will leave you in a daze of melancholia that is somehow disrupted by glimmers of hope, that flickers throughout his soft compositions. In his documentary video, Patrick speaks to how his art can serve as a way for others to work through challenging experiences and emotions. He describes his intentions for illustrating the personal narratives and memories of Holocaust survivors, and the importance of being able to pass on those memories, so that this dark period in human history may not be forgotten.
This video is part of Amplify ELA’s “Meet the Illustrators” documentary series, which document the creative journey of up-and-coming and seasoned illustrators from all walks of life and their contribution to our digital middle school english program.
